1. Who we are

Can't Get Cover is operated from the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), we are the "data controller" of any personal data you provide through this website.

Contact: hello@cantgetcover.co.uk

We are registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

2. What we collect, and when

When you use the matching tool

The matching tool is anonymous. We do not collect your name, email, IP address, driving licence number, address or postcode. The answers you give are used to generate your matches in your browser only and are not transmitted or stored on our servers — unless you choose to save them by submitting the interest form.

Cookies and analytics

We do not use marketing cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party advertising trackers. We may use a privacy-respecting analytics tool (such as Plausible or Cloudflare Web Analytics) that records anonymous, aggregated visit data without using cookies and without identifying you personally.

3. Why we collect this data (lawful basis)

Under UK GDPR, we must have a "lawful basis" for processing your personal data. The bases we rely on are:

We never rely on "legitimate interests" to send you marketing emails. That's always consent-based.

4. What we use your data for

We do not use your data to make automated decisions about you that have legal effects.

5. Who we share your data with

We do not share your data with advertisers or unauthorised third parties for marketing purposes.

The third parties we share data with are limited to:

For clarity: any details you submit through our "register interest" forms are kept by Can't Get Cover only. We do not pass these to insurance partners without your separate explicit consent at the time we contact you.

6. How long we keep your data

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@cantgetcover.co.uk. We respond within 30 days.

8. Children's data

The matching tool is intended for use by adults aged 18 or over, or by 17-year-olds with parental knowledge. The interest form requires consent and is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe we have collected data from someone under 16, please email us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We protect your data using industry-standard security including HTTPS encryption in transit, encrypted storage at rest, restricted access controls, and no transmission of data to third parties for marketing purposes. No system is 100% secure, but we take protection seriously.

10. Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please email us first — we'll always try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO):

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages genuinely help visitors — and we only switch it on if you allow it. No analytics cookies are set, and no request is sent to Google, unless you choose "Allow analytics" in the cookie banner. If you do, Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (such as _ga) to count visits and we configure it with IP anonymisation; we do not use it for advertising, and advertising signals are switched off. You can change your mind at any time using the "Cookie choices" link in the footer of every page, or by clearing cookies in your browser. The matching tool's save-your-answers feature uses your browser's local storage only — that data never leaves your device.
